Okayama University Student Representatives Attend the One Young World 2022 (Next-Generation Leader Global Summit) Japan Delegate Send-Off Party

On August 5, TANAI Airi, a fifth year student of the Dental School at Okayama University, and Rosina MOTHAPO, a third year student of the Discovery Program for Global Learners, attended the Japanese delegate send-off party held at BMW GROUP Tokyo Bay in Odaiba, Tokyo for the global youth summit One Young World (OYW) 2022 Manchester Summit in England (Next-Generation Leader Global Summit) from September 5-8 as part of the delegation from Japan.

At the event, One Young World Japan Committee Chairman OKUBO Kimihito gave an encouraging opening speech, stating “the One Young World stage is a platform for creating the next era, so I hope that each and every one of you is able to experience the large value that begins from small inspiration.” Following this, there was a presentation to commemorate the establishment of the OYW university collaborative network, and Okayama University Senior Vice President for Global Engagement Strategy YOKOI Atsufumi took the stage to give a speech about expanding the network in future. Afterwards, Darren GOFF, Deputy Trade Commissioner for the Department for International Trade, British Embassy Tokyo made a congratulatory address. In the networking session between the participants that followed, both students and members of society were able to actively network with each other, building enthusiasm for the OYW2022 summit. At the OYW 2022 Manchester summit, Ms. TANAI and Ms. MOTHAPO will participate in discussions in international sessions, workshops, and networking events. They will discuss a wide range of topics under the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including peace, the environment, gender, education, human rights, leadership and global business.

This year is the 12th iteration of the summit, and Okayama University has been sending delegates every year since the 2015 Bangkok Summit.
